As of November 15, 2024, Canada remains a top destination for international students due to its diverse society, high-quality education institutions, and opportunities for post-graduation employment or immigration. To ensure the sustainability of the International Student Program, the Canadian government has introduced measures to protect students from exploitation and financial vulnerability.

Key Changes:

Break Periods: Students can work full-time during school breaks (e.g., summer or winter holidays).
Institution Reporting Requirements: Designated learning institutions must report to IRCC twice a year to confirm student registration.

Change of School/ProgramAs of November 8, 2024, students changing their designated learning institution (DLI) must apply for a new study permit.
Before November 8, 2024: Students could change institutions with an online update.
After November 8, 2024: A new study permit application is required for school changes, even if the student already holds a study visa.
